One of our participants wrote us a nice note about her experience, and we'd like to share it with you here, to inspire you for TTL 2012.
"In July 2009 I was 240 pounds and wore a size 22 pants. When I participated in Take The Lake 2010 I was 151 pounds (lost 89 lbs) and wearing a size 4. During the past year I have starting eating 6 healthy meals a day and implemented an intensive weight lifting program thanks to my personal trainer.
"Prior to July 2010 I had only jogged 2 miles on a treadmill. A coworker of
mine suggested I participate in Take the Lake 2010. Every day he gave me advice that allowed me to slowly build up my endurance on training runs. Take the Lake 2010 I was able to maintain a slow steady jog for the first 10 miles, then at mile 10 my calves cramped up and I walked the next mile. I was able to jog the remaining few miles in the woods where the path conditions were favorable.
"I will be returning for the Take The Lake 2011 Challenge in better shape and will finish with a better time. I suggest everyone set a goal and everyday work aggressively towards that goal until you have accomplished the goal – then set a new goal."
