Want to join us in building
the fitness of Columbus County?

Take the Lake is an expansion of a treasured Columbus County tradition on and around one of its most beautiful natural resources. We are optimistic that this event will grow to be an important and popular feature of life here.

Rural Americans face a greater battle against obesity and its related diseases than do people in cities, and we believe that projects like Take the Lake will give our residents a fighting chance.

We have a great need for families and organizations to support this free event, and are pleased that Columbus County has stood up to the task. This project is backed by The News Reporter and Whiteville.com, and sponsors who support it enjoy the exposure this media relationship offers.

With the help of our sponsors, we have been able to offer the people of Columbus County a free fitness event that is exciting and motivating. We have also produced longstanding products, including mile markers around Lake Waccamaw, and a loaner kit to help people organize their first race or fitness event. We have purchased a large race timer clock that we loan out to race organizers.

The Take the Lake Foundation is registered with the state of North Carolina and we expect our 501(c)3 application will be approved this summer. Each year, we donate money to organizations who assist in producing Take the Lake. We have donated nearly $2,000 this way!

The people of Columbus County, and especially we on the Take the Lake team, greatly appreciate the support of community leaders, and we look forward to working with you in this battle for a fighting chance.

Sincerely,

The Take the Lake Organizational Team
The Take the Lake Foundation

Timer Clock --- NEW!

We have purchased a nice (expensive) race timer clock, and are proud to use it during all four of our Personal Endurance Challenges and our X-TREME! event. We also loan it to other groups in the county for their race events.

This is a wonderful opportunity, as the clock will be prominently placed where everyone can see it, and is usually the center of attention. Your logo will appear in 1-color vinyl, unless you provide us with a suitable logo, appropriately sized. (About 3" x 7")

You may have your logo appear on the face of this clock for the entire year. This space is available only to our our active sponsors for an additional $50, and for everyone else at $150 for the year.

Here are events where the clock is expected to appear:
- Take the Lake Walk / Run
- Take the Lake Paddle
- Take the Lake Bike & Hike
- Take the Lake Swim
- Take the Lake X-TREME!
- Reindeer Dash Fun Run
- Tim Reilly 10K Pecan Harvest Festival Run
- Farmers Market Family Fun Run
- Rotary Cardboard Boat Race
