Well, we like to think that everybody who participates in Take the Lake is a celebrity, but each year we try to find someone who has gained celebrity status outside Columbus County. Take a stroll down our TTL Celebrity Hall of Fame, in our Celebrities Page.

Do you have a celebrity yet? I have a cousin who has 2 world records in SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding). Last year he set the world record of paddling 238 miles down the Yukon River in Canada. Last week he was the 1-st to SUP from Cuba to Key West. Don't know if he's available but thought I'd ask if this year's "celebrity" was found...before I even mentioned it to him. He's from Chattanooga,Tenn. I kidded him (via E-mail) before the Cuba/Key West crossing he could be the 1-st to SUP Lake Waccamaw. You can Google Ben Friberg to see his accomplishments. He's also an accomplished musician. Thanks~Ken

Ken, either way, we'd love to have him with us. I've talked with a few people over the years about SUP and TTL, but have always considered it to be too far for the average person. What we need is for someone to do it so others can see it's possible. Thanks, Mark
