TTL swim recommendations and Lee J. Greer gold and silver swim achievement medallions

Long-time Lee J. Greer Labor Day swimmers and volunteers Julie Stocks and Laura Greer Vick caught up with us with some swim recommendations for your TTL swim challenge...
  • Pool and open water swims all qualify for earning TTL swim distances.
  • Julie Stocks, long time champion of the lake swim and TTL, and LW Fire Department Chief Jerry Gore ask that if you plan to swim the entire distance across the lake that you let them know so they can be on standby if you run into trouble. Feel free to call or text Julie prior to your swim at 910-641-1071 or call Jerry at 910-646-4441 with swim details.
  • Safety in the water is a first priority. It's a good idea to follow the traditional TTL swim recommendation to have a safety escort boat with an adult follow you if you are swimming in open water.
And....
Participants that complete a 4.25 mile swim at one time (equivalent to the lake crossing) will receive the traditional gold Lee J. Greer medallion donated by Collier's Jewelers of Whiteville.
Swimmers that complete the 4.25 mile distance in shorter segments will receive the silver Lee J Greer medallion. GPS measurements of mileage is highly recommended.

TTL highly recommends an escort boat to insure your safety in open water swims.
